The meeting starts at 7 p.m. at Schlafly Bottleworks in Maplewood. Grab a beer and find out about key bills making their way through the MO legislature.

Missouri state legislators eliminated the state-run presidential primary earlier this year, placing the new processes in the hands of the parties. While Republicans will be holding CAUCASES, Democrats have been busy shaping a delegate selection process to be as inclusive and democratic as possible.

Guest Speaker Sydni Jackson, a member of the Venable Park Coalition, will fill us in on how community members coalesced to uncover the hidden history of a Creve Coeur Park that was built on a racist land grab. The campaign to rededicate this park - and ongoing efforts to shape its future - speak to many current debates over how to recover and reclaim historic sites in the name of inclusivity.
Heather Fleming, founder of the Missouri Equity Education Partnership, will discuss the organization’s efforts to support anti-bias and anti-racist approaches to education. She’ll also update us on how the State of Missouri is working to restrict how race, gender and history are taught in classrooms - and how we can fight back!
Join us in the park to learn more about the candidates for St Louis County Executive and St Louis County Council District 1! This will be a joint meeting with Clayton Township and Jefferson Township.

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month, and the Hadley Democrats will dedicate our October meeting to discussion of issues related to people living with disabilities in Missouri. Our featured speakers are Julie Salih of the Coalition For Truth in Independence and Rep. Sarah Unsicker (91st District, Missouri House of Representatives).
We will also have legislative updates from our elected representatives and updates from the State Party.

Sarah Crosley will be speaking about her role on the St. Louis County Charter Commission and soliciting our feedback. Alderwoman Megan Green will be giving us a recap of the Summer 2019 DNC Meeting in August. We will also have our monthly updates from the Missouri Democratic Party and state legislators.
During our August meeting, we will be writing postcards for County Council District 2 candidate Kelli Dunaway. We will be offering a special prize to whoever successfully writes the largest amount of (legible) postcards.
